At his academy, Rob Furlong has devised and implemented comprehensive training programs catering to domestic and foreign military and law enforcement agencies. He personally instructs personnel ranging from novice to advanced levels, specializing in sniper training. Rob Furlong collaborates with military and law enforcement units from across the globe, contributing to the development of cutting-edge sniper training methodologies and equipment.

Rob Furlong’s expertise extends beyond the classroom; he has traveled extensively to various regions worldwide to provide on-site training and consultation for military and law enforcement sniper programs. His hands-on approach and meticulous attention to detail ensure the highest standards of training excellence.

Prior to his civilian endeavors, Rob Furlong served in both the Canadian military and law enforcement. As a Corporal in the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, he spent five years in the 3 PPCLI Reconnaissance unit, honing his skills as a sniper. During his military career, he participated in combat operations in Afghanistan, Peace Keeping missions in Bosnia, Military service rifle competitions, conducted covert and overt surveillance, and received commendations for his exemplary service.

Transitioning to law enforcement, Rob Furlong attained the rank of Acting Detective with the Edmonton Police Service. He specialized in organized crime, serving in an elite Law Enforcement joint task force and assuming roles such as major case investigator, surveillance, and team weapons and tactics leader.

Rob Furlong’s extensive experience encompasses riot troop instruction, precision aerial shooting, and the development of sniper programs. He has received numerous awards and accolades for his bravery and service, including the United States Bronze Star and the Canadian Military Mention in Dispatch.

As a seasoned instructor and team leader, Rob Furlong excels in planning, organizing, and conducting training across diverse environments. His expertise in risk assessment, contingency planning, and surveillance techniques has made him a sought-after consultant in the defense and security sectors.

Rob Crawford

Sniper / Precision Rifle Instructor

A seasoned sniper with an extraordinary career spanning 21 years in the Edmonton Police Service (EPS). For seven of those years, Robert served as a vital member of the EPS Tactical Section, distinguished as both an operator and a Police Sniper. His legacy is etched in the participation in several hundred tactical files across the city of Edmonton and the province of Alberta, showcasing his commitment to precision and operational excellence.

Robert’s expertise extends beyond his operational roles; he served as an instructor for Urban Police Sniper training, imparting his extensive knowledge to various police agencies throughout Canada. In 2008, he represented the EPS in the prestigious Canadian International Sniper Concentration (CISC), where his two-man team clinched victory as the top Pistol Team, underscoring his skill and marksmanship.

Retiring from the EPS in 2018 with the rank of Sergeant, Robert’s contributions to law enforcement and sniper training have left an indelible mark on the EPS Tactical Section.

Parallel to his police service, Robert devoted 17 years to the Canadian Armed Forces, initially in the Airforce. His military journey encompassed 12 years in the Regular Force and five in the Reserve, featuring roles as an aircraft Engineer and technical crewman at the Aerospace Engineering and Test Establishment. His military service reached a pinnacle during a deployment to Haiti in 1996-1997, where he served as part of a Utility Helicopter Unit, providing vital air support to international ground troops. His qualifications as a door gunner on the CH135 Twin Huey showcased his versatility and dedication to operational effectiveness.

Born and raised on a cattle ranch in BC, Robert’s connection to firearms and hunting began at a young age. An avid hunter and outdoorsman, he spends substantial time in the field, embodying a love for nature and responsible firearm use. Robert’s journey as a lead instructor with RFMA since 2013 adds another layer to his multifaceted career. Playing an integral role in the company, Robert’s expertise contributes significantly to the company’s functions. His dedication to training and leadership underscores a lifetime committed to excellence and service in both the law enforcement and military realms.

Maury Gratrix

Sniper / Precision Rifle Instructor

A Former Canadian Sniper hailing from central Alberta, whose journey has been marked by dedication, skill, and global service. Maury’s military career commenced in the aftermath of 9/11, as he enlisted and joined the prestigious 3rd Battalion Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry.

Having graduated from Recce in 2004, Maury quickly rose through the ranks and became an integral part of the 3VP Recon Platoon. His commitment to excellence led him to become a Paratrooper in 2004, earning the esteemed maroon beret position. Displaying exceptional marksmanship, Maury obtained sniper qualification in 2005, shaping the trajectory of his military career. Throughout the remainder of his service, he distinguished himself within the 3VP sniper cell.

Maury’s prowess on the field was further showcased in the Canadian International Sniper Competition in 2005, a testament to his exceptional skills and dedication to precision shooting. Additionally, he completed the Basic Mountain Operations Course in 2003, solidifying his versatility in various operational environments.

In 2007, Maury deployed to Afghanistan, where he was a member of a 4-man sniper team attached to Charlie Company (Airborne). Tasked with hunting down IED cells in the Panjway Zhari district, Maury played a crucial role in supporting coalition operations in southern Afghanistan. His service and expertise were invaluable in navigating the complexities of the battlefield.

Retiring from the forces in 2008, Maury redirected his skills towards building targets for law enforcement and military units, contributing to training and operational preparedness. Simultaneously, he ventured into Private Military Contracting in the Middle East, notably in Iraq, where he deployed multiple times in support of the war on terror. Maury continues to contract overseas today, bringing his wealth of experience to various regions around the world. In 2014, Maury joined the ranks of instructors at RFMA, contributing to the development and training of military personnel. His expertise extends to global deployments with RFMA and Cadex Defence, where he actively participates in training and demonstrating Cadex Sniper Rifles. Graham Ragsdale

Sniper / Precision Rifle Instructor

A distinguished Canadian sniper that left an indelible mark on the records of military history with his decade-long service in the Canadian Armed Forces. Serving initially as a paratrooper with the 2nd Airborne Commando and later with the esteemed 3 PPCLI, Ragsdale transitioned into a role as a sniper and reconnaissance specialist, accumulating six years of expertise in precision warfare. His deployments to Bosnia and Afghanistan showcased his exceptional skills and unwavering commitment to duty.

During the intense Operation Anaconda in 2002, Ragsdale’s actions as a sniper earned him the prestigious Bronze Star, a testament to his courage and exceptional marksmanship in the heat of combat. Rising through the ranks, he retired as a Master Corporal, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and proficiency in the art of sniping.

Post-military service, Ragsdale seamlessly transitioned into the private sector, dedicating a decade to serving with private military companies (PMCs). His role as a designated defensive marksman (DDM) and security manager at various NATO Afghanistan forward operating bases (FOBs) and combat outposts (COPs) underscored his continued commitment to safeguarding global security. Beyond Afghanistan, Ragsdale lent his expertise to private military contracts in the Maghreb region of North Africa, demonstrating versatility in navigating diverse operational landscapes.

Graham Ragsdale’s operational deployments spanned an impressive 78 months, with a remarkable 62 of those months spent in the challenging terrain of Afghanistan. Morgan Warren

Sniper / Precision Rifle Instructor

Meet Morgan Warren, a highly decorated Canadian sniper with an exceptional 22-year career in the Canadian Army. Throughout his dedicated service, Morgan has left an indelible mark on the military landscape, showcasing proficiency and leadership across various units and deployments.

Morgan’s journey began with significant assignments in 1PPCLI, 3PPCLI, and the Infantry School, where his skills and commitment quickly propelled him into the elite realm of sniping. Having completed three operational deployments to Afghanistan, Morgan emerged as a qualified sniper in 2007, Sniper Detachment Commander in 2009, and achieved the prestigious status of Advanced Sniper in 2010.

From 2013 to 2017, Morgan served as the Master Sniper for 3PPCLI and 1CMBG, assuming a pivotal role in the planning and execution of all sniper training, including the basic sniper course. His responsibilities extended globally as he organized and led sniper teams for international deployments and competitions. Morgan’s leadership was instrumental in coordinating participation in renowned events such as the Canadian International Sniper Concentration, the United States Army International Sniper Competition, the UK Tri-Service Sniper Competition, and the Irish Defense Force Sniper Competition.

In 2017, Morgan’s expertise led him to CFB Gagetown NB, where he took charge as the Officer in Charge of Snipers at the Infantry School. Here, he played a crucial role in shaping sniper doctrine for the army, overseeing the Sniper Detachment Commander course and the Advanced Sniper course. In 2018, Morgan orchestrated the 20th annual Canadian International Sniper Concentration in NB, attracting 30 teams from around the world to compete.

Morgan’s exceptional contributions were not only recognized within military circles but also earned him prestigious commendations. In 2016, he received the Chief of Defense Staff Commendation for his role as the 1CMBG Master Sniper, leading to the development of a robust sniper program that saw notable victories in competitions such as the Canadian International Sniper Concentration and the UK Tri-Service Sniper Competition. In 2019, Morgan was again commended by the Canadian Army Doctrine and Training Center Commander for his exceptional planning and execution of the 20th annual Canadian International Sniper Concentration.

Over the span of a decade, he served with unwavering dedication in the 3 PPCLI sniper platoon, where he became a seasoned professional with a plethora of training experiences.

Throughout his tenure, Clayton seized invaluable training opportunities, showcasing his commitment to excellence. Notable achievements include completing prestigious courses such as the USMC Mountain Scout Sniper, Military Freefall Parachute Instructor, Advanced Mountain Operations Instructor, Tactical Combat Casualty Care, Helicopter Insertion Instructor, Sniper Detachment Commander, and CT Driving Course, among others.

One of Clayton’s remarkable privileges was engaging in training sessions alongside elite military and law enforcement marksmen from across the globe, participating in multiple sniper competitions that further honed his skills. His proficiency extended beyond his own experiences, as Clayton had the honor of instructing courses for the Canadian Armed Forces and foreign military units. Commencing his journey in 2008, Adam swiftly made his mark upon joining 3 PPCLI, where his prowess quickly became evident. Within a mere year, by the summer of 2009, Adam had transitioned to the esteemed Recce Platoon, mastering both Basic Recce Patrolman and Basic Sniper qualifications. This remarkable feat solidified Adam’s place as one of the select few to achieve sniper status within their inaugural year in a Canadian Armed Forces infantry battalion.

Subsequently, Adam’s journey led him to the prestigious 3 PPCLI Sniper Pl, where he honed his skills over the course of 13 illustrious years at 3VP. Ascending through the ranks, Adam reached the esteemed position of Warrant Officer, culminating in his ultimate role as the 3 PPCLI Unit Master Sniper (Pl WO) before his well-deserved retirement in 2023, where he served as the 1 CMBG Brigade Master Sniper.

Beyond his military service, Rob forged a second career with the Edmonton Police Service, where he assumed the crucial role of lead firearms instructor. In this capacity, he played a pivotal role in shaping the skills and expertise of his fellow officers, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the police force. Jason Fraser

Pistol / Carbine Instructor and Fixed wing pilot

A former Canadian soldier with a remarkable career spanning over two decades. Since October 2018, Jason has been an invaluable member of the RFMA team, serving as the lead for our carbine and pistol program while actively contributing to various training activities. His wealth of experience and expertise has made him an instrumental asset in the organization.

Jason’s military journey commenced in 1990, where he served as an Infantryman with both the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry and the esteemed Canadian Airborne Regiment. His commitment to service led him through a distinguished 21-year career, culminating in his retirement from 3 PPCLI at the esteemed rank of Warrant Officer.

Throughout his military tenure, Jason undertook six overseas deployments, showcasing his adaptability in both peacekeeping and warfighting scenarios. Notably, he completed three deployments to the former Yugoslavia and three to Afghanistan, demonstrating his resilience and dedication to duty in diverse and challenging environments.

Jason’s specialized qualifications and extensive experience include the employment, direction, and effects observation of medium and long-range indirect fire weapons, dismounted reconnaissance, and a qualification as an Urban Operations Instructor. His unique skill set adds depth and diversity to the RFMA team, enhancing the quality and effectiveness of our training programs.

Beyond his military achievements, Jason is a lifelong hunter and sport shooter, participating in various shooting disciplines such as IPSC, CAS, and 3-Gun. With a career spanning since the mid-80s, Kyle Wadden stands as a seasoned and licensed pilot, proudly holding both Transport Canada and US FAA commercial helicopter certifications. His extensive expertise has taken him on a thrilling journey across North America, from the unforgiving landscapes of the high Arctic to the sun-soaked terrains of southern Mexico.

Serving as the Chief Pilot of Ahlstrom Air Ltd., Kyle’s prowess extends from executing daring rescues in the challenging HEC mountainous terrain to imparting his knowledge on the High Angle Precision course. Whether he’s providing a lift to those in need or skillfully handling his Cadex to send rounds down range, Kyle exemplifies versatility and skill in every endeavor.

Noteworthy for his significant contributions, Kyle has amassed over 17,000 hours of flight time and boasts FAA commercial helicopter certification. Beyond his aerial finesse, he remains an integral part of the RFMA training programs, leaving an indelible mark on both Aerial Platform and High Angle Precision courses. Doug Silverberg

Range Operations Manager

Doug Silverberg, the esteemed Range Operations Manager at RFMA, brings a wealth of experience and dedication to his role. Since 2014, Doug has been an integral part of the RFMA team, evolving into an active staff member in 2021.

Hailing from Alberta, Doug’s upbringing instilled in him a deep-rooted passion for hunting and shooting, which has been a cornerstone of his life. Prior to joining RFMA, he dedicated close to a decade honing his skills in Pistol and Carbine training. His expertise extended to teaching PAL/POL courses for several years, enriching the firearms community with his knowledge and experience.

Doug’s competitive spirit has propelled him to participate in numerous shooting competitions over the years, with notable achievements in the Canada King of 2 Mile since 2021, boasting multiple top 3 finishes.

Before embarking on his journey with RFMA, Doug held the esteemed position of President and Partner at a prominent Western Canadian Financial services company. Despite his demanding professional commitments, Doug remains a dedicated family man, balancing the responsibilities of fatherhood with the love and support of his wife. Their bustling household, comprising four children, ensures that life is always vibrant and dynamic. Beyond his professional and familial obligations, Doug and his wife find solace in shared pursuits, enjoying leisurely rounds of golf and embarking on enriching travel adventures together
